So here you are, wondering, perhaps even worried, that you are inadequate for the task at hand.

You are. Embrace it.

The fact that your self-awareness perceives your own weakness, your lack, your utter need for more than what you have, for more than what you are…well, that’s a good thing. God can work with that.

You see, it’s the proud, the arrogant, the self-sufficient who fail to recognize their need for anyone else, for anything else apart from their own intellect or ability…and God resists the proud.

You weren’t created to be complete in yourself. You can’t be…it’s impossible:

“I (Jesus) am the vine and you are the branches. The one who remains in Me, and I in him, will bear much fruit. For apart from Me you can do nothing.” John 15:5

The good news is, that with Jesus, with God you can do whatever He wants you to do:

“For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.” Philippians 4:13

I want to leave you with the truth that the Apostle Paul came to embrace after undergoing multiple personal trials and attacks. In his desperation, weariness and need, he cried out to the Lord, asking God to deliver him from the circumstances he was experiencing. You see, the Lord had entrusted Paul with tremendous insight, discernment and spiritual gifts. Just the kind of things that can lead someone to forget that they are the recipient of gifts and not the creator of the gifts:

“ Because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, for this reason, to keep me from exalting myself, there was given me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to torment me—to keep me from exalting myself! Concerning this I implored the Lord three times that it might leave me. And He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ’s sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong.
