God’s Weather Report

Hurricanes, floods, drought and wildfires are happening with greater frequency. But God has His own weather report:

Isaiah 43:1-4 New Living Translation

“O Israel (Christian, believer, child of God), the one who formed you says,
“Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you.
I have called you by name; you are mine.
When you go through deep waters,
    I will be with you.
When you go through rivers of difficulty,
    you will not drown.
When you walk through the fire of oppression,
    you will not be burned up;
the flames will not consume you.
For I am the Lord, your God,
the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.
….
Others* were given in exchange for you.
I traded their lives* for yours
because you are precious to me.
You are honored, and I love you.

Isaiah declared this beautiful passage, this message from God, to Israel, when the majority of the population had gone into captivity in Babylon.

For believers today, this is a word of hope, a word of encouragement and a promise from the Lord.

The One who was given in exchange for us is *Jesus.

The One whose life was traded for ours is *Christ.

Never let despair or fear hold you down. Remind yourself of the words and allow them to strengthen your faith: You are honored, loved and precious to God.

Time to Upgrade

If you don’t know God, or if you only know Him as “God”, then you are due for an upgrade!

God wants you to know Him as Father…your merciful, loving, heavenly Father.

You can take the next step. Invite Christ into your heart and learn what it means to be a child of God.

“And I will be a father to you,
And you shall be sons and daughters to Me,”
Says the Lord Almighty.

Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. ~ John 14:6

Blessings & have a beautiful weekend ❤

Good Stuff

Every once in awhile, something good shows up in my Facebook feed. This is one of those posts:

Me: Okay, God, here’s the thing. I’m scared. I’m trying not to be, but I am.

God: I know. Want to talk about it?

Me: Do we need to? I mean, you already know.

God: Let’s talk about it anyway… We’ve done this before.

Me: I know, I just feel like I should be bigger or stronger or something by now.

God: *waiting patiently, unhurried, undistracted, never annoyed.

Me: Okay. So, I’m afraid I’ll do everything I can to protect my family and it won’t be enough. I’m afraid of someone I love dying. I’m afraid the world won’t go back to what it was before. I’m afraid my life is always going to feel a little bit unsettled.

God: Anything else?

Me: EVERYTHING ELSE.

God: Remember how your son woke up the other night and came running down the hall to your bedroom?

Me: Yes.

God: You were still awake, so when you heard him running, you started calling out to him before he even got to you… remember? Do you remember what you called out to him?

Me: I said, “You’re okay! You’re okay! You’re okay! I’m here.”

God: Why did you call to him? Why didn’t you just wait for him to get to your room?

Me: Because I wanted him to know that I was awake, and I heard him, and he didn’t have to be afraid until he reached the end of the dark hallway.

God: Exactly. I hear you, my child. I hear your thoughts racing like feet down the dark hallway. There’s an other side to all of this. I’m there already. I’ve seen the end of it. And I want you to know right here as you walk through it all, you’re okay. I haven’t gone to sleep, and I won’t.

Me: *crying. Can we sit together awhile? Can we just sit here a minute before I go back to facing it all?

God: There’s nothing I’d love more.

He Longs for You

Do you have anyone in your life that you are hurting for?

Perhaps you are thinking of a loved one going through difficult circumstances, or you know someone making poor or dangerous choices.

Maybe the person you are thinking of is sick, addicted or being abused.

If you have the least bit of empathy, you feel their pain and want to help.

I don’t know about anyone else but sometimes I hurt so deeply for people I cry. I want to run to them and make it all better…to take away their pain, their illness… the addiction.

When I start to feel these deep, deep emotions, my thoughts turn to God – our loving, deeply merciful God. I experience just an inkling of the depth of love and longing I imagine He feels when He looks upon us – those He created.

I know the love and mercy of God. I have experienced it and live in it. My prayer is that if you don’t know God this way, that you will. And if you do know Him, that you will cry out to Him on behalf of those wounded, hurting souls that you know and are aware of.

Please reach up and accept the love God so generously pours out on us through His Son – Jesus.

If you want prayer, please leave a message in the comments. Details aren’t necessary unless you want to share.

“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones God’s messengers! How often I have wanted to gather your children together as a hen protects her chicks beneath her wings, but you wouldn’t let me.” ~ Luke 13:34

[God Is Gracious and Just] Therefore the Lord waits [expectantly] and longs to be gracious to you, And therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you. For the Lord is a God of justice; Blessed (happy, fortunate) are all those who long for Him [since He will never fail them]. ~ Isaiah 30:18 The Amplified Bible
