A Day for Rejoicing

Because of what Christ has done for us!

The area where Christ was crucified was not originally inside the walls of the Old City in Jerusalem. But as the city grew, was attacked, destroyed & rebuilt, the walls expanded. This is the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the area identified as the site where Christ was Crucified & buried. The care of the church is handled by 6 denominations: Greek Orthodox, Armenian Apostolic, Roman Catholic , Coptic, Ethiopian and Syriac Orthodox churches.

But if you are Christian, there is only one Church, and Christ is the Head (Colossians 1:18).

We are many denominations (and non-denominations) because God expresses Himself in a myriad of glorious ways. But, we are one Body: “There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men. Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. 1 Corinthians 12:5-7

Give True Hope

Rather than exhort someone to “just believe” or encourage a stranger with, “you’ve gotta have faith”, give someone a reason to believe.

Take the time to minister to people where you find them. Listen. Learn about them. Offer them genuine encouragement. Share the love of God.

Share what God has done for you. This is where the power is–where faith germinates, is watered & grows.

Everything that God does for you is not only for you, but for those who are destined to cross your path. It’s not selfish to ask God to heal you. Your healing will be the testimony God uses to draw others close to Him in faith.

“All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. For the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with his comfort through Christ. Even when we are weighed down with troubles, it is for your comfort and salvation! For when we ourselves are comforted, we will certainly comfort you. Then you can patiently endure the same things we suffer.  We are confident that as you share in our sufferings, you will also share in the comfort God gives us.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-7

The Lord wants to bless you and make you a blessing. Let God bless you! Our merciful, generous Father is glorified when His goodness is seen in the lives of His people. That’s why the enemy works so hard to try to stop the blessings of God from flowing in our lives.

But he can’t, so don’t let him:

“You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.” Acts 10:38

Be real and let God be God to you & through you.

Blessings!

Pray for one another

Pray with Purpose & Intensity

Question: If you were in a desperate situation and needed help, how would you want people to respond?

I would want people to recognize that without their help and intervention, the desperate situation I’m in will only get worse.

Case in point: When someone shares a request for help on Facebook, like the report of a missing teenager, or someone suffering with a critical disease, how do you respond?

I have caught myself posting the common, “Praying!!!!” response, but am I really PRAYING EXCLAMATION POINT, EXCLAMATION POINT, EXCLAMATION POINT.

I had to admit this morning that I have not been interceding this way lately, and I repented.

I lifted up my prayer to God on behalf of the missing teenager as if she were my child. I cried out, knowing how desperately I would want my daughter kept safe and returned to me unharmed. I asked the Lord to protect and keep her from all evil, and that if she had run away, her heart would be softened to call her family and ask them to come get her.

Next I prayed for a precious 4 year old little boy battling cancer. Of course I would want my child healed! What loving parent wouldn’t? I asked God to heal him and give him back strength, health and wholeness. I prayed that God will strengthen and encourage the child’s parents, knowing how helpless they must feel watching their child suffer.

I identified with each of the people I prayed for, imagining what would want the Lord to do for me in a similar situation.

We serve an awesome, powerful and GENEROUS God, who wants us to pray about everything! (See also Luke 18:1-7)

So be bold in prayer! Ask for God’s best and highest when you are praying on behalf of others, keeping in mind that you may be the link in the prayer chain that helps bring good, or more accurately, GOD, into a bad situation.

I’m leaving you with 2 scriptures that confirm the truth of this principle. Be a warrior with God in prayer! He will honor your passion & faith!

Blessings!

“Confess to one another therefore your faults (your slips, your false steps, your offenses, your sins) and pray [also] for one another, that you may be healed and restored [to a spiritual tone of mind and heart]. The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working].” James 5:16 Amplified Bible

Yes,truth is lacking; And he who turns aside from evil makes himself a prey.
Now the Lord saw, And it was displeasing in His sight that there was no justice.
And He saw that there was no man,
And was astonished that there was no one to intercede;
Then His own arm brought salvation to Him, And His righteousness upheld Him.” (Isaiah 59:15-16)

The Lord of the Harvest

No matter where we are on God’s timeline, one thing never changes, and that is God Himself (Malachi 3:6; Numbers 23:19; Hebrews 13:8)

Even if the Lord is to come back soon, we are still under His directive:

“And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone” Mark 16:15 NLT

The reason is simple:

God loves us and doesn’t want anyone lost from His presence. Peter said it this way:

“…not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance…” 2 Peter 3:9 a

His direction today is to pray.

To pray to the Lord of the harvest:

“Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest.” Matthew 9:38

Father God, thank you for revealing your thoughts, intentions and purposes. Thank you for revealing your heart of love! Please send more workers into your harvest fields, for the harvest is indeed great, and the workers are few. Please remove the obstacles, the hindrances and blockages that are keeping your people from doing or obeying your will in this area. Bless us with the grace we need to accomplish your plan in the earth today and everyday. Help us to keep our eyes on you, Lord, and to walk in close fellowship with you, trusting that you will lead and guide us to your lost sheep.

Be glorified in the earth today Father; be glorified through your people, through all who call upon your name.

In the mighty name of Jesus…amen!

2 Peter 3:8-13 Full Passage:

“Beloved, do not let this one thing escape your notice: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.

“The Lord is not slow to fulfill His promise as some understand slowness, but is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

“But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar, the elements will be dissolved in the fire, and the earth and its works will not be found.

“Since everything will be dissolved in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to conduct yourselves in holiness and godliness as you anticipate and hasten the coming of the day of God, when the heavens will be dissolved by fire and the elements will melt in the heat. But in keeping with God’s promise, we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells.”
