A Day for Rejoicing

Because of what Christ has done for us!

The area where Christ was crucified was not originally inside the walls of the Old City in Jerusalem. But as the city grew, was attacked, destroyed & rebuilt, the walls expanded. This is the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the area identified as the site where Christ was Crucified & buried. The care of the church is handled by 6 denominations: Greek Orthodox, Armenian Apostolic, Roman Catholic , Coptic, Ethiopian and Syriac Orthodox churches.

But if you are Christian, there is only one Church, and Christ is the Head (Colossians 1:18).

We are many denominations (and non-denominations) because God expresses Himself in a myriad of glorious ways. But, we are one Body: “There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men. Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. 1 Corinthians 12:5-7

Be A Witness of His Goodness

Jesus said in Acts 1:8, “You will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere” (NLT).

When I hear the word “witness,” I think of a courtroom. It’s a perfect picture of what God’s asking us to do to make a difference in the world.

He doesn’t tell us to be the attorney, arguing the case. He doesn’t tell us to be the judge, judging other people. He wants us to be his witnesses.

“He answered, “Whether He is a sinner I do not know. There is one thing I do know: I was blind, but now I see!” John 9:25

Keep Him in Your Sight

What causes you to take your eyes off of God?

What precipitates a fall from a place of faith?

What are your weaknesses?

It helps to know the answer because Satan knows, and he will use it to his advantage.

Where has God gifted you?

Has the Lord directed you to do something for Him?

If you are following the Lord and seeking His will for your life, you will face trials. Knowing your areas of weakness, as well as your gifts & strengths can help you recognize the enemy’s attacks. You will then be able to overcome them in the power of the Spirit, once you recognize what is really going on.

Take a person who is gifted as an intercessor for example. God calls all of us to pray, but some people have the Spirit-lead ability to pray for extended periods of time for other people or situations. God will give them insight into to hidden things, not for the purpose of sharing it with other people, but to bring it before the Lord, asking for His intervention, His will, His grace, mercy & love. The burden to pray can be so intense, the intercessor does not get a sense of release until God’s will has been accomplished in prayer.

But what if the gift that is meant for good becomes stifled or forgotten because the intercessor turns their prayer focus upon themselves instead of others?

It’s not wrong to ask for God’s help in our lives, so please don’t misunderstand me. But if the enemy knows that an intercessor’s weakness is worry about family, or health or finances, then what area(s) do you think Satan will attack? Now our prayer warrior is spending most of his or her prayer time focusing on their own needs & troubles rather than impacting the Kingdom of God.

But the easy way back is to turn it all over to God. Repent and ask for grace to stay focused on what He wants you to focus on. God promises that when we “seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and then all these things…” will be given to us as well (Matthew 6:33).

We don’t have to be afraid of trials because God is for us. His promise to us is steadfast & true:

“No weapon that is formed against you will prosper; And every tongue that accuses you in judgment you will condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, And their vindication is from Me,” declares the LORD.” ~ Isaiah 54:17

I’m praying that God will give you wisdom & insight for whatever you are going through at this time. And in doing so, that you will grow spiritually and become the overcomer God has destined you to be.

Blessings & have a great week!

Hebrews 12.2

Give True Hope

Rather than exhort someone to “just believe” or encourage a stranger with, “you’ve gotta have faith”, give someone a reason to believe.

Take the time to minister to people where you find them. Listen. Learn about them. Offer them genuine encouragement. Share the love of God.

Share what God has done for you. This is where the power is–where faith germinates, is watered & grows.

Everything that God does for you is not only for you, but for those who are destined to cross your path. It’s not selfish to ask God to heal you. Your healing will be the testimony God uses to draw others close to Him in faith.

“All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. For the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with his comfort through Christ. Even when we are weighed down with troubles, it is for your comfort and salvation! For when we ourselves are comforted, we will certainly comfort you. Then you can patiently endure the same things we suffer.  We are confident that as you share in our sufferings, you will also share in the comfort God gives us.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-7

The Lord wants to bless you and make you a blessing. Let God bless you! Our merciful, generous Father is glorified when His goodness is seen in the lives of His people. That’s why the enemy works so hard to try to stop the blessings of God from flowing in our lives.

But he can’t, so don’t let him:

“You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.” Acts 10:38

Be real and let God be God to you & through you.
