Prayer for Today

“Righteousness exalts a nation, But sin is a disgrace to any people.” Proverbs 14:34

Father- we believe Your word is truth.

Jesus said that we are not to live only by what we physically eat, but by every word that proceeds out of Your mouth (Matthew 4:4).

You rightly say that righteousness, Godliness, makes a nation great, but that the sin of the people, whether hidden or publicly practiced, weakens and destroys a nation from the inside. History bears this out.

So Father, forgive us for not only our own sins, but the sins of our country. Have mercy on the leaders, the government officials, the business sector, the heads of households. Let us see and recognize the error of our ways. The ungodly beliefs that capture and lead many people astray.

You have said “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil…” (Isaiah 5:20); we can look around and see the evidence of this all over. Through media, on TV, in schools, on the streets, in businesses, in our homes. Have mercy Lord and lovingly convict us. Many may not even know right from wrong because we have neglected Your word, Your ways and Your precepts.

Father, restore us in Your image, so that Your will can be accomplished and realized in our land. Have mercy and lead us back to You.

In Jesus’ name, we pray.
